Nominator's project description

Three central problems of particle physics will be addressed at future high-energy accelerators: the generation of mass; the unification of forces; and the structure of space and time. TESLA, the electron-positron linear collider planned at DESY in Hamburg, should provide a detailed picture of solutions to these problems, based on the very high experimental accuracy which can be achieved at this facility. Professor Boos has developed methods and techniques that will serve as theoretical tools for this purpose. They include the understanding of the new phenomena themselves as well as the standard particle processes. The work he carries out is essential for implementing the physics programme at this new facility.
